Greenseed

Greenseed is a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering women in environmental initiatives and fostering their active participation in environmental governance. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, Greenseed's mission is to drive positive change toward sustainable futures worldwide. Our efforts currently focus on projects in developing countries and regions most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation.

What We Do

Strengthening women's leadership

in environmental conservation

for a sustainable future

Why focus on women?

Women are impact multipliers. Across the globe, women play a vital role in managing sustainable resources as land managers, resource users, and farmers. In many contexts, they are disproportionately affected by environmental degradation yet are more likely to engage in environmental protection and adopt pro-environmental behaviors. Research shows that men are more likely to prioritize environmental utilization, while women often advocate for conservation.*

Despite their crucial role, women’s participation in decision-making processes around sustainable resource use remains limited. This is especially true in lower-income countries, where their contributions are often subordinated, and conservation efforts lack prioritization. Supporting women in conservation has been shown to generate greater impact than efforts directed solely toward men.

At Greenseed, we aim to strengthen women’s leadership in environmental conservation. We provide space, training, and tools to help them develop sustainable businesses and impactful projects. Our mission is to amplify women’s role in environmental protection by offering the guidance and resources they need to lead transformative change.
